SOURCE: KPD

On Wednesday, October 1st, the 8th Annual Walk Away From Drug event was held with approximately 800-1000 residents of Kingman participating in the stand against drug and substance abuse.  Participants walked from three starting locations and converged on Centennial Park where Honorable Judge Taylor and Honorable Judge Huerta emceed the event.  Kingman High School student and KYC BUTT President, Victoria Davis, made an inspiring speech to the crowd speaking about the importance of remaining drug free and pursuing healthy alternatives.

Many community dignitaries were present including Mayor Janet Watson, Vice-Mayor Carole Young, City of Kingman council members Erin Cochran, Jen Miles, and Mohave County Board Supervisor Jean Bishop.  Arizona HIDTA Director Elizabeth Kempshall and Arizona Criminal Justice Commission Director John Blackburn Jr., whose organizations provide grant monies to the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET), were present to show their support of Kingman’s efforts to help children and adults walk away from drugs.
