VIPS Philosophy

At the Kingman Police Department, the "VIP" acronym has two distinct meanings:

Volunteers In Policing - A program involving qualified citizens who are interested in enhancing a variety of services provided by the Kingman Police Department.

Very Important Person - The traditional definition. The Volunteers are considered Very Important Persons by the entire staff for their selflessness in support of the department and their community.

Volunteer's Are Expected To:

  • Work a minimum of 12 hours per month
  • Schedules are flexible, but generally VIPS serve Monday through Friday during daylight hours
  • Occasionally, VIPS will be asked to assist at special events, many of which occur on weekends and/or in the evenings
  • Special arrangements can be made for those whose daytime schedules preclude normal volunteer hours.
