In this overnight adventure, you’ll travel back in time! Saturday will be a full day of adventure as the first activity takes place on the Dolly Steamboat where you will take a 6-mile cruise in hopes to see desert bighorn sheep, bald eagles and a host of other animals viewed from the decks of the Dolly! Views will also include the beautiful flora from the stately Saguaro cacti to the microscopic organism called desert varnish. An unforgettable vista of volcanic “welded Tuff” canyons and 1300 foot cliffs awaits you on Canyon Lake. This is one of Arizona’s best-kept secrets! Upon completing your afternoon cruise, you will be able to see the sights and take in lunch at Tortilla Flats, “The friendliest little town in Arizona”. According to Gross Management Department of the state’s main U.S. Post Office in Phoenix, Tortilla Flat is presumed to be Arizona’s smallest official community having a U.S. Post Office and voter’s precinct. The town has a population of 6. There is a lot of history and stories that go along with this small town that you need to visit it for yourself. As you leave Tortilla Flats, the next stop calls for Goldfields Ghost Town where you can visit over 20 shops, exhibits, and attractions from the old west. You’ll also get to witness an old west gunfight performed by the famous Goldfield Gunfighters! After more than 115 years, travelers from all over the world still visit this gold mining town located on the historic Apache Trail (http://www.apachetrail.net) and enjoy the excitement and grandeur of Arizona’s Wild West! Our day isn’t quite over yet… The last stop for the evening will be at Barleens Arizona Opry where you will enjoy a beef dinner and a performance of a Country Jubilee. Barleens is said to have good food, great entertainment, and hilarious comedy for everyone. After a good night’s rest, you will get up Sunday and experience the Arizona Renaissance Festival. The Arizona Renaissance Festival is one of the largest of the Renaissance events in the nation because it is really five Festivals all rolled into a giant, costumed fantasy village with twelve Stages of Continuous Live Entertainment, an Outdoor Circus, a Medieval Arts & Crafts Fair, a Jousting Tournament with Three Performances Each Day, and a day-long feast.
