Mayor Richard Anderson

Dick was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in the western suburbs. A typical childhood of swimming, baseball, basketball, scouting (a family of Eagle Scouts) and music, Dick went on to Macalester College in St Paul, Minnesota.

Dick graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and played college level basketball and baseball. In addition, he had a radio program and played in a 16 piece big band dance orchestra in the Twin Cities. Turning down an offer from the Pittsburg Pirates, he began a 34 year career with the Department of the Army (civilian) followed by five years as a senior financial analyst with CALIBRE Systems, Inc.

His work experience ranged from an entry level budget intern to senior levels of financial management up to and including Financial Manager at the Pentagon level. A survivor of 9/11/2001 where he lost many friends and co-workers, his experience includes field installations and depots, major command and Department of Army assignments. His primary expertise was with the business operations of the Army Industrial Base where he earned the Department of the Army Cost Analysis Award.

Dick’s retirement work with CALIBRE included an analysis of Department of Defense financial management practices during the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) and a contract to clean up twenty-seven single year non-expiring Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) appropriations.

Dick ran on a platform to revitalize the economy in the Kingman area with emphasis on getting our residents back to work and bringing our businesses back to life. With his background in financial management, he will provide strong analytical ability and decision making experience to the Kingman City Council, always aware of what is being requested and who will have to pay.

On November 4th, 2014 he was elected as Kingman's new Mayor. He was sworn in on December 2nd, 2014.
