Armed Robbery Suspect Sought

On Sunday, the 21st, of June at approx. 3:00 Kingman Police Officers responded to  a convenience store in the 3100 block of Harrison Avenue in reference to a armed robbery.  The suspect was described as a white male, wearing black pants, white shoes, a gray  long sleeve T shirt, and a dark colored ski mask, entered the store with a knife and demanded money.  The male suspect then left the store and went towards Centennial Park where he was later observed on foot.  Officers arrived on scene as the suspect  was getting into a vehicle and a pursuit ensued.  The suspect  went  westbound on Andy Devine when he tried to negotiate a right turn onto Harrison Avenue and collided into another vehicle.  The suspect then  left the scene of the accident and abandoned his vehicle at Los Angeles and Golden Gate Avenue. The suspect  was last seen jumping into a back yard of a residence.  The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Larry Eugene Brooks, 45, of Kingman.  The area was searched with negative results.  A temporary Felony Warrant has been issued for his arrest.  Anyone with information please contact the Kingman Police Department or Mohave County Silent Witness, at 928 753-1234.

About the Kingman Police Department

Currently there are 57 full time sworn officers, 1 part-time reserve officer, 2 animal control officers, 27 civilian employees proudly serving the people of the City of Kingman.

General Services

Provide police services to the City of Kingman; provide e911 dispatching for the City of Kingman Fire Department, and City of Kingman Animal Control.

Employment

If you are interested in employment as a sworn officer; communications operator; secretary; or records clerk. Complete the following:

1.  Fill out job interest card
2.  Obtain application packet

NOTE: Applications will only be sent out or accepted for positions that are currently available. Please see the Kingman Job Board.

When a position becomes available, applicants are invited to begin the testing process if their application is accepted. The applicant will proceed to the next step providing a passing score is obtained at each level.

The testing process for a sworn officer consists of:

  • Physical agility test

  • Written examination

  • Oral board assessment

  • Polygraph examination

  • Psychological examination

  • Physical examination

Starting salary - Non-certified police applicants:

  • Step 1 = $38,573 while in academy

  • Step 2 = $40,502  plus .80/hr shift pay upon successful completion of academy

  • Laterals maybe higher depending on experience and qualifications.
