KPD Reveals New Cancer Awareness Police Tahoe

Post Date:11/09/2018 2:01 PM
Cancer Awareness Police TahoeThe Kingman Police Department will debut its new graphic designed PINK & BLUE cancer awareness Police Tahoe at the Kingman Cancer Care Unit Arts & Crafts Fair this weekend. The vehicle is wrapped in pink to signify support for breast cancer awareness, and blue to signify prostate cancer awareness. Cancer has touched the lives of many of our employees and their families as well as many impacted in our community. It is very near and dear to our hearts to support and honor the men, women, and children who have fought and are fighting the battle against cancer.

As part of the KPD winter uniform male officers have been authorized to grow and wear a well-groomed mustache or goatee. This is a temporary allowance to KPD grooming standards. This month is commonly referred to as “No Shave November”, where men will opt to grow a mustache to raise awareness and support for men’s health issues, to include prostate cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 women (12.4%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime (2018). Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American women and is the most commonly diagnosed.

Additionally, 1 in 9 (11.6%) American men will have prostate cancer during his lifetime. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among American men and is the most commonly diagnosed (American Cancer Society, 2018).

The police unit will be on display at the Mohave County Fairgrounds, 2600 Fairgrounds Blvd. on Saturday, November 10th, between 9 am and 5 pm, and Sunday, November 11th, between 9 am and 3 pm.

The cost for the graphics and installation was paid for utilizing drug seizure monies at no cost to the general fund dollars.
