What are Those New Cameras?
Contractors are currently installing traffic detection cameras along Stockton Hill Road intersections that include Airway Avenue, Kino Avenue, the Home Depot intersection and Gordon Drive. These systems are being installed to replace the current induction loops being removed with the waterline and paving project along Stockton Hill Rd.
These new systems provide improved service to our citizens, reduce delay caused by broken loops, and reduce signal maintenance costs, which results in long-term, overall cost savings. These detection cameras also detect motorcyclists and bicyclists easier than the traditional traffic loops, therefore increasing overall safety of our community. These cameras cannot be used for traffic violation enforcement, nor do they record or save any video.
Additional traffic control and intermittent lane closures can be expected, so we caution drivers to slow down and pay attention in work zones.
