New Recycling Rules

Post Date:02/05/2019 11:54 AM

Because of the ever-changing standards cities, counties and states have to follow, Kingman is being forced, as many other communities across the state, to limit what kind of plastic recyclables we can accept. Kingman can now only take plastics labeled 1 and 2 at the EZ Recycling drop locations, as well as the pilot recycling program in the Walleck and Legacy residential areas.

Plastics labeled #1 are typically your water and soda bottles, where those labeled #2 include milk jugs, shampoo and conditioner bottles, cooking oil, etc.

 EZ Recycling drop locations are:

  • Basha’s Shopping Center
    3360 E. Andy Devine Ave
  • Centennial Park
    Cross Streets, Beverly and Burbank
  • Fire Fighters Park/Mohave County Fairgrounds
    Detroit and Fairgrounds
  • Louise / Railroad Ave
  • Mohave County Public Works
    3675 E. Andy Devine Ave.
  • New Safeway Shopping Center
    3970 Stockton Hill Road
  • South Side Little League Park
Cross streets, Santa Fe and Buchanan

These bins are located at these sites 24 hours a day. If you have any questions or would like additional information, you may contact the City of Kingman Sanitation Department at 692-3102. Remember, when in doubt, throw it out!

About 45 percent of the world's plastics set for recycling have been exported to China since reporting began, but in 2017, China passed a policy banning plastic waste from being imported. “Global annual imports and exports of plastic waste skyrocketed in 1993, growing by about 800 percent through 2016. Since reporting began in 1992, China has accepted about 106 million metric tons of plastic waste, which accounts for nearly half of the world’s plastic waste imports,” citing a University of Georgia scientific study published in Science Advances, July 2017.
