March Stockton Hill Road Project Update
The southbound crew was able to complete line testing and the trenches have been patched. There is one work zone left for the southbound crew that is from Plaza Dr. to just south of Airway Avenue. Crews will set up traffic control for this zone this Sunday, March 10. Crews will be working in the intersection of Stockton Hill Road and Airway Ave. Sunday night. The Airway Ave. intersection will be restricted from 7pm to 6am. Detours will be in place to route traffic around the work zone. The remainder of next week (Monday through Friday) crews will work daytime hours, installing the mainline between Airway Ave. and Plaza Dr.
The northbound crew is continuing to work between Airway Ave. and Plaza Dr. Work has slowed in this section, because crews have hit solid rock. They will continue to work through this zone as quickly as possible, and we are hopeful that crews can complete both the mainline and lateral work this week, depending upon on digging conditions. After the mainline and laterals are installed, we will begin pressure testing and patching the trench after pressure testing is complete, weather permitting. When patching in this section does occur, we will need to restrict Airway Ave. during daytime hours as crews patch the trench that crosses the road. We will do the patching in phases to keep one lane in each direction open while the work is performed, and will have traffic control in place to help guide traffic through the work zones.
Crews are watching the weather closely, and if we get rain on the project, it will affect our ability to prepare the trenches for patching, so the schedule may slide depending on the amount of precipitation. Despite the unusual weather Kingman has had, the project should still be completed in April as originally planned.
