Mohave County Confirms First Positive COVID-19 Case

Post Date:03/25/2020 7:49 AM

Mohave County Department of Health officials have confirmed the first positive test for COVID-19 in the Lake Havasu City area. The City of Kingman team members and elected officials are working together and collaboratively with local and statewide officials to ensure the safety of public health. More information regarding potential closures in the community will be shared as soon as they are available. Now, the Governor’s Executive Order 2020-09 regarding restaurant closures is required to be followed by all restaurants, bars, gyms, and movie theaters.

City of Kingman Mayor Jen Miles said, “As we recently heard from hospital officials, we knew that the virus was most likely already in our area. Now, it is imperative that all of us act on the COVID-19 guidelines to safeguard the health of our entire community. Lives can be saved if we do the right things now.”

The mayor also stressed that businesses should follow the Governor’s order, even though they may not specifically fit into the mentioned categories. Private clubs, such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Elk’s, and others should consider the safety of their members as priority one. Governor Ducey’s Executive Order 2020-12 also lays out the prohibition of the closure of essential services, which can be found here:

As of Monday, March 23, 2020, all city buildings (except the Municipal Courthouse, Golf Course, and Parks) will remain closed to all public access until at least April 6, 2020. To protect the health of our City team members and the public, all residents will be required to make requests for services remotely, through mail, email, online platforms, and telephone. City team members will be allowed into the buildings and are expected to work on-site to keep the City of Kingman operating to serve our residents. Dispatch, Fire and Police Services will operate at normal levels. Trash pickup will remain, but KART services will be reduced. The Kingman Municipal Court, Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course and Recreation Services will remain open.
