To maintain friendly working relationships with our construction partners the City of Kingman is announcing a change in how the department will operate. Effective January 1, 2020, the Kingman building department will become the Department of Community Development of the Kingman Fire Department. Working in unity, Fire Officials, Building Inspectors and Planning and Zoning staff will foster a friendly atmosphere putting people first. People from local businesses as well as architects, engineers and contractors will all benefit from this partnering. Please come see us at our new home:

Main Office: (928) 753-8130

In an effort to streamline customer service, Building & Life Safety and Planning & Zoning will be combined into one department: Community Development.

Combining the first two steps into one department will capture both steps one and two of customer concerns, getting closer to a “one-stop-shop” concept. The move will give more room to customers, when the permitting function occurs. This also gives the city and the community a better opportunity for better alignment of the Zoning Code and the Municipal Building Code regulations related to development within city limits.
