Do I need a business license to hold a yard/garage sale?
It shall be unlawful to have any yard sale in excess of three (3) days in a row or more than five (5) times in a calendar year at any single residence. Yard sales must be spaced at least four (4) days apart. No business license is required.
What do I have to do to get a business license?
Business Licenses are issued to new businesses that have satisfied specific requirements stipulated in the City of Kingman Municipal Code.
Existing businesses that are operating within the legal scope of their license will also receive a renewal license upon the timely remittance of the appropriate renewal fees.
New Business Licenses cost $100.00 (and are due at the time of application submittal).
Renewals cost $30.00 (due every December 31st but have a 30 day grace period).
Late renewals cost $55.00 (late renewals are considered late after January 31st).

When do I have to renew my license?
Business licenses are issued on a calendar year basis; January 1 through December 31. All City of Kingman business licenses must be renewed or canceled by January 31st of each year. Please return your renewal notice with the appropriate fee to renew the license.
To cancel the license, mark the notice Cancel and return to the City Clerk's Office at 310 N. Fourth Street, Kingman AZ 86401 or call the City Clerk's Office at (928) 753-8113 to cancel the license.
What do I need to do if I want to change the location of the business?
Any business changing locations, must file a new application with the City Clerk's Office indicating the new address etc. A transfer fee of eleven dollars ($11.00) is required for a transfer of location and must be submitted along with the application.
I want to have a parade or a block party and I want to temporarily close the street down to traffic, what do I need to do?
A completed Special Event will need to be submitted sixty (60) days in advance of the event to the City Clerk's Office for approval of a parade or a street closure of a City street. There is $50 charge for a Special Event and $100 Charge with road closure. However, if the city must use police officers in addition to those normally on duty, for traffic, crowd control, etc., all costs must be paid by the person or organization filing for the permit. The common council reserves the right to waive in whole or in part the costs required by this section.
I want to have a sidewalk sale at my store. What do I need?
You must apply for a License for Public Vending for sidewalk sales. The License for Public Vending can be purchased by existing City of Kingman licensed businesses only. The cost for a Public Vending License is $11.00. A license is good for three (3) concurrent days and you may purchase up to ten (10) per year.
