The Fire Prevention Division has two Fire Hydrant Maintenance Technicians whose responsibilities are to maintain all of the fire hydrants in the City of Kingman's water system. We color code our fire hydrants to indicate the approximate water availability at each hydrant.

  • Red: 0 - 499 gallons per minute
  • Orange: 500 - 999 gallons per minute
  • Green: 1000 - 1499 gallons per minute
  • Blue: 1500 gallons per minute and above

The Fire Code requires a 3 foot area clear of debris and obstruction around the perimeter of the fire hydrant so access is not hindered in the event of an emergency. If you see that a fire hydrant is leaking, broken, missing caps or any other problem, please contact the Fire Department at (928)753-2891.

Do not block a fire hydrant by parking next to it. State law prohibits parking closer than 15 feet from a fire hydrant. Remember, your actions may cause a delay or prevent us from being able to supply water to a fire incident!
