The Kingman Fire Department offers numerous Fire and Life Safety Education Programs to the citizens of our community. Programs are offered to schools, groups, civic organizations, block watch groups, businesses and individuals. Programs cover a variety of topics and can be custom tailored to fit your needs. Listed below are some of the programs offered; to request a program contact the Fire Department at (928)753-2891, the programs are free of charge.

Public Programs

Programs cover a wide range of fire safety issues including smoke detectors, escape plans and drills, kitchen safety, etc. These programs consist of lectures and video presentations. Handouts are given out.

Business Programs

Fire Safety in the workplace, a variety of topics can be covered including exiting, housekeeping, fire extinguisher use, commercial hood and kitchen safety, maintaining existing fire safety equipment, etc. The programs consist of lecture and video presentations and handouts are distributed.

School Programs

The Fire Department offers a wide range of education programs for our area schools. The programs are age and grade specific and cover a wide range of topics including the key fire safety behaviors, exit drills, cool a burn, smoke detectors, stop drop and roll, etc. The programs consist of lectures, discussions, and video presentations. The National Fire Protection Agency's Risk Watch Program was recently introduced to area schools grades kindergarten through fourth. The program has been implemented and is ongoing.

Other Special Programs

Special Programs offered to schools include Pluggy " The Fire Hydrant Robot" and "Sparky the Fire Dog".

Neighborhood Safety Fairs

Are held at various community parks several times during the summer. The Fairs consist of water games, equipment displays, and fire safety education. Free refreshments are usually served. The dates and times will be advertised in the local media and in the Events section of this web site prior to each event.

Fire Safety House

The Fire Safety House is a mobile classroom which is used to reinforce previously taught life safety behaviors. The Fire Safety House simulates a split level residence including a living room, a kitchen, and an upstairs bedroom. The Fire Safety House has the ability to place children in simulated fire conditions including non-toxic smoke. The Fire Safety House is available to other Fire agencies in Mohave County so advance reservations are required. There are requirements for ages and group size, please contact the fire department for more information (928)753-2891.

Fire Extinguisher Training

Training is offered to groups and businesses. The program consists of a lecture, video presentation, and live fire training at our training facility.

Station and Engine Visits

Tours and visits can be scheduled by contacting the Fire Department. Tours are offered at each of our four stations. Age appropriate information will be given out during the programs.

Smoke Detector Programs

The Fire Department participates with the Community Block Grant Program offering free smoke detectors and installation to low income residents, the elderly and the handicapped. Please contact City of Kingman Community Development or the Fire Department for more information.
